Commence your adventure with a 5 am pickup from your Cusco hotel in our private van. Our skilled driver transports you 100 km northeast to the Trailhead, “Upis” (4,226 m./13,864 ft), where you’ll be introduced to our trekking team, including the Cook and Horse Driver. A hearty breakfast sets the stage for the journey ahead.
From the outset, the imposing Ausangate Glacier and the Vilcanota Mountain range grace the horizon. A leisurely three-hour hike across gentle Peruvian terrain unveils spectacular views of llama and alpaca herds, as well as the graceful Andean goose. Reach Upis, our lunch spot, and unwind with a well-deserved nap before embarking on an exploration of Huayna Ausangate lake, nestled at the base of the glacier. The adventure continues with a two-and-a-half-hour ascent to the Arapa pass (4,800m./15,748ft), offering panoramic views of lakes and the terrefic mountains.
Discover a realm of vivid hues as you descend to Pukacocha lake over the course of an hour and a half. Our camp awaits here, complete with hot drinks and the jovial “Happy Hour” before dinner. Spend the night in comfortable tents, gazing at the Milky Way overhead.

The ascent to Pukacocha pass (4,870m/ 15,978ft) unfolds over a two-hour journey, rewarding you with awe-inspiring panoramic vistas of the towering Apu Ausangate Mountain and its encircling lakes. Capture the moment at Pukacocha pass before descending to the Ananta lunch spot (4,750 m / 15,584 ft), an undulating terrain graced with scenic beauty, for an hour and a half.
Revitalized after lunch, set your sights on the Warmisaya Pass (4,985m / 16,355 ft), a gradual two-hour climb that unveils your first distant glimpse of the iconic Rainbow Mountain and the enchanting red valley. The trail descends for an hour to the SurineCocha Lagoon (4,800m / 15,748 ft), your campsite nestled beside the shimmering waters.
Embark on a day of grandeur, beginning with a hearty early breakfast. A leisurely one-hour walk across Peruvian plains leads to Rainbow Mountain, where you’ll be among the first to witness its ethereal beauty before the sunrise heralds a new day. A 90-minute hike through the surreal landscapes of the Red Valley ensues, guided by your expert Mountain Guide, who shares captivating insights about the Rainbow Mountain formations.
